The Shoes of "The Hunger Games"

"The Hunger Games" is basically the next "Twilight" series--it's a trilogy, young people are trying to kill one another and fans are camping out to score tickets for tonight's opening in theatres nationwide. "The Hunger Games" is set in a post-apocalpytic world where 24 young contestants are chosen to compete in the Hunger Games to the death. This got us thinking, what shoes does star Jennifer Lawrence wear, in a fight for her life, as Katniss Everdeen?

Lawrence plays Katniss, a hunter from District 12. Back home, she usually goes barefoot unless she is going on a major hunting trip--then she throws on boots. When she is entered into the Hunger Games, she is assigned a stylist, Cinna--played by Lenny Kravitz. Cinna gives Katniss a makeover.

During the Hunger Games, Lawrence wears a pair of brown, high quality, hand made leather boots. The shoes are made in the USA by a factory in Pennsylvania called The Vintage Shoe Company. The boots were originally used by soldiers in the military instead of boots with laces because they didn't get caught in tank machinery.

In a case of life imitating art, Lawrence is an overnight A-lister. Like Katniss, she has been plucked out of the forest (of indie films) and onto a worldwide stage. She was interviewed on "Good Morning America" this week and said that she doesn't like shoes and recently checked into a hotel room wearing socks.
To see if Katniss survives the Hunger Games, catch the movie this weekend as it opens to great fanfare. To see if Lawrence keeps her sanity in the smoky mirrors of Hollywood, stay tuned...
