Manly Mondays: Lil Wayne Signs on with Supra

In March, we teased that Lil Wayne might release a signature shoe line, and ShoesTV is proud to announce that it's now official! On an episode of MTV's "Hip Hop Pov," the rapper announced that he had signed on with sneaker brand Supra to release a new collection of skate shoes.

Lil Wayne made his first foray into the fashion world earlier this year with Trukfit, a skating and streetwear clothing line. “[I made Trukfit for] everybody,” Lil Wayne said. “I’ve been in every situation, and I want my clothing line to do the same.”

In February, rumors started circulating that Lil Wayne wasn’t stopping with apparel, but would be stepping out with an all-new skate shoe. At the time, he said “I do have a shoe coming out soon but it won't be Trukfit. I have a shoe with a well-known company. I just don't want to say yet because I haven't dotted the line yet.”

He has dotted the line but the rapper is still mum about the details. Lil Wayne only told the reporter at Pov that he was collaborating with Supra on the new kicks. Then he went on to discuss how much skating has meant to him.

"Skating has become one of my pure passions," Lil Wayne said. “I believe I’ve found myself.”

And that new love has trickled down into his music. How have his tunes changed since he discovered skating? “Attitude and alliances,” Lil Wayne said simply. “I’ve become friends with the funnest and coolest people…These kids that come from the skate world; it is so different and so awesome."

We’re glad to see Lil Wayne has found solace in skating. And, we can’t wait to see how it translates in his footwear!
