Adidas Makes World's Lightest Basketball Shoe

We didn't think it could get much lighter than 2011's adidas adiZero Crazy Light, but adidas is claiming that it just topped itself with the adidas adiZero Crazy Light 2 "Baylor." The 9.5 ounce sneaker (1.5 ounces less than its predecessor) goes on sale May 24, and ShoesTV has all the details.

Unfortunately, these aren't available until May 24...but you can ogle! 

Believing you shouldn't be bogged down by heavy shoes, companies like adidas and Nike have been pushing themselves to produce the lightest athletic shoes on the market. So, the adiZero Crazy Light 2 is not alone in its mission, though its10% lighter than the closest competition.

Basketball involves so much jumping and turning and stopping and starting that basketball shoes need to offer ankle support, which can make them clunky. That's why adidas' claims that they have given us all the features of a good basketball shoe in a super light package is music to baller's ears. In addition to being functional, they also look pretty sharp.

They feel pretty, oh so pretty! 

If you've been following our Current Collection, keeping an eye on the fashion blogs, or getting out from under your rock semi-regularly, you may have noticed that neon colors are huge this spring. It seems adidas has followed the trend with the "Electricity" colorway on the Crazy Light 2. The shocking (get it?) green is sure to make a statement on the court. As they say, go bold or go home!

We only forsee one disadvantage to having these bad boys on the court. You'll have to watch your footwork more closely, because the ref (along with everyone else) will have his or her eye on your feet.
